What I’ve learned about healthy glowing skin that has nothing to do with creams!

Have you ever noticed how some women just look great no matter what? I’m sure you have and I know that I have too! It can be frustrating. I know we’re not supposed to “judge a book by its cover” and that looks are not the only thing that matter but it’s probably fair to say we all seek to both look and feel our best. So how do these women do it? It’s not that they’re more beautiful than you or I because we’re all beautiful in our own unique way. Rather, it’s that they know how to “pull it all together” in a manner that appears effortless. They look radiant, happy and confident and with that confidence comes a healthy glowing complexion. I’ve discovered, after more than 10 years of working with women, that it’s confidence that contributes to a glowing, youthful complexion. Where does the confidence come from? Sleep, smiling and a positive frame of mind!

In no particular order, I present to you the 3 most important techniques to create and maintain a more youthful and glowing shine!

1. The power of beauty sleep!

Sleeping Beauty wasn’t just a name she was a beautiful princess. Why? Probably from all that beauty rest! What I have learned is that women who look good sleep well. They believe in the power of beauty sleep. A good night’s rest is scientifically proven to be beneficial on many levels. Collagen production is accelerated during sleep and growth hormones also peak during sleep, stimulating cell and tissue repair. Losing sleep means losing valuable repair and maintenance time and without that, we face increased inflammation leading to possible acne breakouts and increased skin sensitivities. Stress is another contributing factor to lack of sleep and without the body’s ability to do this deep repair work, aging speeds up and that shows on our skin. Establishing and maintaining a good sleep schedule will have a positive, healthy influence on your complexion helping you to achieve that healthy glow we all desire.

2. The power of a smile

I truly believe that one of the best kept beauty secrets is to smile. Smiling just makes you feel happier. Automatically. Think about it, it’s hard to think negatively while smiling. That woman you saw yesterday with the great big grin – didn’t she look pretty, happy and approachable? I’ll bet she did and when she smiled at you, didn’t you want to smile back? Of course! It’s contagious! Smile at the world and the world smiles back at you and this positivity has a direct impact on how you both look and feel. No matter what else is going on in your life simply putting a smile on your face will actually release endorphins that help to improve your mood. Improved mood means a better attitude and a better attitude means a healthy glow. So smile!

3. Always have a positive mindset.

To be beautiful you have to think beautiful. Your positive healthy mindset will bring you that radiant glow you seek. It’s true what your Mother always told you: “beauty shines from within.” The power of positive thinking will actually help to make you look and feel more beautiful. Yes, we all face challenges in our lives and sometimes, life is just plain difficult. It’s how we embrace these challenges that sets us apart. Learn from them, learn about yourself and what actually defines you and then use that knowledge to get back up after a fall. In other words, maintain an optimistic outlook and not only will you live longer but you’ll slow down the signs of aging and “enjoy the ride” a whole lot more!
